The newly formed Jun Iida Quartet makes its debut with a stellar line-up of four highly promising musicians: Jun Iida, NIE Xin, Tang Peitong, and Hong Kong bassist Justin Siu.
As an exceptional trumpeter, composer and educator, Jun Iida's musical career spans both coasts of the US, having performed on world-renowned stages such as SFJazz and collaborated with renowned musicians including Takuya Kuroda, Anat Cohen and Deltron 3030. His debut album Evergreen (OA2 Records, 2024) garnered critical acclaim for its delicate melodies and innovative vocabulary, and he was recently selected for the 2025 Jack Straw Artist Support Program, further showcasing his brilliant influence in the modern jazz world.
NIE Xin is one of China's most representative jazz drummers, renowned for his international musical perspective, precise rhythm control and improvisational prowess. He has made significant contributions to the promotion and development of contemporary Chinese jazz.
Tang Peitong is a remarkable young pianist and rising star in the jazz world, known for her keen musical perception, rich harmonic vocabulary and adventurous compositional approach. She has won numerous awards in international competitions, showcasing her dazzling talent and potential.
Hong Kong bassist Justin Siu is characterised by his warm and deep tone, steady lines and agile rhythmic interactions, providing a solid foundation for the quartet while adding nuanced tension and improvisational sparks to their sound, making their performance truly complete and layered.
